Full Bio for Heidi M. Rogers (300 words)
Heidi M. Rogers writes and illustrates books for kids and teens. Her YA fiction explores first love, friendship dynamics, self discovery and acceptance, with neurodiversity, feminism, and environmental issues woven throughout. Heidi’s author-illustrated picture books and graphic novels tackle modern-day issues related to the environment and feature neurodiverse characters. Her upper-middle grade novel-in-verse deals with parental divorce and addiction. Her favorite tropes are the enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, forced proximity, celebrity, fake dating, grumpy-sunshine…actually, she just loves all the tropes.
Born and raised in Southern California, Heidi spent time at her mom’s house frequenting the beach or junior lifeguards, and the time at her dad’s house composing poetry or co-creating comics with her brother. In high school, that translated to working as an actual lifeguard and editorial and design work on the school newspaper. In college, Heidi interned in the university’s marketing office, both in editing and graphic design. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Art in Art and a concentration in graphic design. Heidi has worked as a graphic designer and editor, freelance and in-house, in person and remote, for more than 20 years. She now lives in Salt Lake City with her family and adopted pup.
Thoughts on writing and living green can be read at heidimrogers.substack.com. PitchFest; and her illustration work (for The Wild Within) received an honorable mention in the 2022 PB Party showcase.
Heidi is forever living in her girl-power era and, not to brag, makes the best chocolate chip cookies in the world.
